Services

Intensive Care

The intensive care services at Village Veterinary Hospital are provided for pets who are in a life-threatening condition, and who need continuous monitoring and support from equipment and medication to keep their normal body functions going. Instances when pets might need intensive care can be a sudden illness, serious medical condition, or trauma. Some pets, however, require intensive care after they have had a major surgery and are too unstable for care elsewhere.

While receiving intensive care at our facility, your pet will be provided with almost constant monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, and oxygen levels. Our experienced staff will also monitor pain levels, and administer medication as needed.

At Village Veterinary Hospital, we are aware that this can be a stressful time for you and your pet, so we want you to rest assured that your loved one is in good hands. The amount of time spent in intensive care depends on the condition of your pet as well as the individual circumstances of your pet’s illness. Animals really do have an amazing ability to heal quickly, so typically your pet will have a relatively short stay.

Each patient in intensive care is tended by our compassionate, trained staff of professionals. Our staff members are committed to nursing your pet back to health as quickly as possible so that you can be together at home again.
